Hyena Feeding Frenzy

Disclaimer: Some bloody content!

Chanced upon a Hyena feeding - quite possibly a kill by the pack considering the carcass is quite intact. While it may seem blood-thirsty and gory, this is just a snippet of how Hyenas survive in the wild. Compared to their wildebeest prey numbering well into the millions, there are only an estimated 4000 - 10000 hyenas globally. These beautiful spotted Hyenas waste little, and digest skin, bones and meat with equal efficiency. Alphas usually have first serving while the rest chase off opportunistic Vultures and Jackels. Eventually though, even they get to share a bit of the meal, ensuring the survival of these incredible animals in the Mara.
